Carlton Sherwood is a veteran Washington, D.C., newspaper and
television correspondent, media consultant, author and documentary film-maker. He has the
distinction of earning journalism’s highest honors in print and television news, the Pulitzer
Prize and George Foster Peabody Award and several Emmy’s for his documentaries. Sherwood,
whose professional communications and news experience spans nearly four decades, is currently
President of Red, White and Blue Productions, Inc., a film production company headquartered in
Harrisburg, PA. He formerly served as Broadcast Communications Director for Pennsylvania Gov.
Tom Ridge and Special Media Advisor to Secretary of the Navy James Webb.
Experience
2004 to Present: President, Red, White And Blue Productions
Founder, President, documentary film company that produces broadcast quality, award-winning
programs; including, “On Freedom’s Wings; Bound for Glory”, the story of the Tuskegee Airmen,
aviators who broke the race barrier during World War II, and; “Company of Heroes”, first-hand
accounts of Pennsylvania veterans whose exploits became famous in the World War II classic,
“Band of Brothers”. These, and other films currently in progress, were produced for the
Pennsylvania Veterans Museum for national distribution to broadcast outlets and schools with
companion teacher lesson plans.
2003 to 2004: Executive Vice-President, WVC3 Group
Senior management partner in the Wvc3 Group, an international security, anti-terrorism,
counter-intelligence firm headquartered in Reston, VA. Provided confidential consultation and
services to various federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, the
Department of Defense and the Central Intelligence Agency. Represented several private sector
firms specializing in new surveillance technologies, computer-based and satellite global
communications systems.
1995 to 2003: Director, Commonwealth Media Services (CMS)
Restructured, managed the official television and radio bureau for the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania under Gov. Tom Ridge. CMS conducted daily television and radio news feeds, live
studio and remote satellite transmissions and operated the state emergency command/communications
center. CMS also produced broadcast-quality documentary, educational and public service video
programs, including two Emmy-award-winning films, a first for any state agency.
1988 to 1995: Vice-President, Telequest Productions, Inc.
An independent major-market media consulting and video/film documentary company. Provided a
wide-range of confidential services to television network and national print news organizations
as well as select government, corporate and legal clients, primarily in the Washington, D.C., area.
1987 to 1988: Special Media Advisor To The Secretary Of The Navy
Provided confidential, media-related counsel to the Secretary of the Navy, Secretary of
Defense and Joint Chiefs of Staff. Charged with the global restructuring of public affairs and
internal communications systems for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
1985 to 1986: Chief Investigative Reporter, The Washington Times
Senior investigative reporter for a start-up metropolitan daily newspaper in Washington, D.C.
Created and managed the initial enterprise/investigative reporting unit for what would become
Washington’s “second” national newspaper.
