Don Farrell --

Historian, Educator, Specializing in The Marianas.

Why I am a Marauder

I am proud to be a Marauder because I believe in their mission, to find and recover America’s Missing in Action from World War II.

I think it is tragic that so many members of “The Greatest Generation” are still listed as MIAs.  If my talents can somehow help the Marauder search teams discover and recover some of those thousands who are missing and bring closure to

their families, then I know I will have done something good with my retirement years.

My Dad drove a landing craft in the invasions of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.  I enlisted in the Air Force straight out of High School.  I have nephews serving in the Middle East today and now my eldest granddaughter has enlisted in the Air Force.  I want my Dad to know I am doing something for the families of his buddies who did not come home.  And I want our young people in uniform today to serve with the confidence that there will always be people like the Marauders, of all nationalities, who appreciate the value of freedom, who will never forget and will do whatever is necessary to maintain the code: No man left behind.
