Why I am a Marauder
History is one of the areas of education that has
been most neglected by American schools, elementary and secondary. By the time

through those systems, they generally have little
motivation to engage in college level study of history.
I love history, and believe that if we fail to study and
understand history, we are destined to repeat it. I have had the pleasure
of teaching social studies at the elementary and secondary level, and well
as post-secondary level, and always believed that integrating the
experiences of the events that comprise history into the students'
understanding and interests is the best way to stimulate the student to
value the study of history.
While military history is my primary
interest, the effect of any military event on the beliefs, music, fashions,
and other cultural artifacts are so tightly bound, that they create a
history that orbits an event, or series of events, none of which functions
independently. The impact of WW-2 on science, social mores and beliefs has
been immeasurable, I'll let other social scientist decide whether some of
those changes are good or bad.
I feel that the scope, impact,
and discoveries of the work of the Marauders needs to be shared with
everyone who will listen, and read, and watch the record of their efforts
formally, in a classroom, informally on television, and recreationally
through books and photographic records.
