CNOCM (SW/AW) USN (RET)
Why I am a Marauder
In the time that I have known Ken, and considering my
extensive military service, I understand, and appreciate the importance of the Marauder Mission.
I consider it a necessity, a priviledge, an honor, as well as a duty to serve our fallen Veterans
in any capacity. What better way could there be than to help bring closure to the families
of these heroic MIAs.
I look forward to working with the Marauder team and participating in this monumental
MIA recovery mission to return to their families the remains of American servicemen who died
unaccounted for on foreign soil in service to our country.

Michael Driscoll was born on St. Patrick’s Day and raised in Queens, New York. His dad was an
Irish New York City Police Officer and his mom an Irish housewife. Mike joined Troop 13, Boy
Scouts of America, at age 12 and his dad became the Troop’s Scoutmaster. Mike went on to become
an Eagle Scout. Several weeks after graduating from St. Helena’s High School for Boys, he enlisted in
the United States Navy for a 33-year career, initially as a Boiler Technician and becoming a command
master chief.
His most memorable tours were as Command Master Chief of Naval Air Station Key West and
Command Master Chief of USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75). This assignment was his most
rewarding. He was responsible for getting the crew ready to cruise on the ship’s maiden voyage.
During the six month combat cruise, the crew’s performance was unequaled as there were no injuries,
loss of life or liberty incidents. He was a key character in the Learning Channel’s documentary, “Super
Carrier 24/7,” filmed while underway.
After a highly successful tour on board USS HARRY S TRUMAN, the Navy waived the mandatory 30
year retirement, requesting him to be Commander Naval Forces Japan Regional Master Chief. He was
recognized by the Chief of the Maritime Self Defense Force for his work with the Japanese Navy’s
command master chiefs, a first award of its kind for any U.S. or Japanese Sailor.
Mike Driscoll completed 15 major deployments and has numerous awards and medals that include the
Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three
awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Good Conduct Medal (eight
awards), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (ten awards) and other unit and campaign awards.
He holds life membership in the following organizations: Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled
Americans Veterans, Non-Commissioned Officers Association, Senior Enlisted Academy Alumni
Association, and Surface Navy Association. He is a member of the Key West Military Affairs
Committee, Key West Art and Historical Society, Key West Maritime Historical Society, The
Florida Historical Society and Library of
Florida History, Navy League, Fleet Reserve Association and American Legion. He is an associate
member of the Fraternal Order of Underwater Swimmers School, Key West, Florida. He volunteers
his time as a member of the Key West Citizens Review Board who reviews and investiges complaints
by citizens against Key West Police Department and is a member of NACOLE, the National
Association of Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement. He is a member of the Patriot Guard Riders as
well as a member of Moore’s Marauders.
He has earned a career certificate in Corrections and a Bachelors Degree in History/Government. He
is a certified SCUBA diver and a licensed U.S. Merchant Marine Officer. He resides in Key West,
Florida, with his wife Suzanne and their wonder dog, a rescue German Shepherd named Turk.
